Owen Wilson portraying Jeff Bezos on SNL is purple in color and wears a headset with microphone on a spaceship.

by Star Trek pretty cool most of the time, right? Traveling in space and exploring the stars sounds like a dream, but we might not live to see it. Unless you’re Jeff Bezos, of course, and a new one Saturday Night Live sketch reminds us how much he no that only the elite experience space.

With Owen Wilson as the first guest in its 47th season, last night’s premiere featured a skit that saw by marvel Loki the star stars as ex-Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. In the aptly named Star Trek: Quest for the Ego, Bezos is the captain of the SS wearing a cowboy hat New shipment. No ship is complete without its crew, and Bezos includes his younger brother Mark (played by Wilson’s brother Luke), Dutchman Oliver Daemon, 18, and astronaut Wally Funk! All three joined Bezos on his space flight last July. “Their mission,” the narrator intends, “to kind of fly through space blundering … in a ship that looks like a penis.” Join the prestigious Paramount + range of Star Trek shows in 2023, of course.

As a Star Trek sketch, that’s pretty funny. Wilson goes wacky in a way he’s not known for some time as Bezos walks with Richard Branson and the couple casually flaunt their wealth by crashing into space stations. Other than a pretty solid search on Amazon well reported bad treatment of its workers, the best moment comes with Elon Musk’s (Mikey Day) cameo and his SpaceX ship. That odd tic that Musk has while laughing is haunting.

Wilson’s other Amazon-linked sketch may be too odd for its own good. It starts with him and a group of friends trying to fairly share their checks. Just as Wilson’s orders get bigger and weirder, things take a left turn and bring the Nazis into the picture. It’s supposed to be a dig at Amazon Prime various tv shows, but the punchline takes a bit too long to get there. So basically that’s a standard SNL sketch.

Yet Wilson Star Trek the sketch comes just at the right time. At the end of the month on October 28, Prodigy will hit Paramount + and will be the first children’s show in the series. The following month, November 18, Discovery will come back for his fourth season. by Star Trek two other great shows—Strange new worlds and the second season of Picard– will both arrive in 2022.
