Packers hosting tours for veteran free agents Taco Charlton, RJ McIntosh

The Green Bay Packers could be on the verge of adding some veteran help ahead of Joe Barry’s defense.

The team held official visits for free agents Taco Charlton and RJ McIntosh on Monday, according to the league’s transaction feed.

Charlton was a first-round pick for the Dallas Cowboys in 2017. He produced 11 sacks, 20 quarterback hits and 12 tackles for losses while playing 44 games for three teams (Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins) during of the past four years.

McIntosh was a 2018 New York Giants fifth-round pick. He played 18 games in his first two NFL seasons, but hasn’t played in a regular season game since 2019.

The Packers could look to improve edge rusher depth and defensive line after a disappointing Week 1 effort. And edge rusher could be a priority after losing Za’Darius Smith (back) to injured reserve.

If the visits went well, a signature could be possible as early as Tuesday. The Packers face the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field on Monday night.

The Packers also hosted tryouts for linebackers Peter Kalambayi, Shareef Miller and Tuzar Skipper. Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reported this weekend that the Packers are seeking help from a linebacker via trade.
