Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was scheduled to play last Thursday against the Ravens, but found himself in a late scratch due to back strain that also prevented him from training Sunday.

Although head coach Matt LaFleur said after the game that it was not a "need" that Rodgers sees at some point in the pre-season, the back injury has not yet changed any plans for this week. Chief Executive Brian Gutekunst said on Monday that it remained to plan for Rodgers to play against the Raiders in Winnipeg on Thursday.

Gutekunst does not disagree with LaFleur's view of the need to represent pre-screeners in a new offense.

"Football is football. It's not like it was a different sport, "Gutekunst said, via Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

DeShone Kizer started the first two preparatory games for the Packers and would start again this week if the decision to retain Rodgers was taken.
