Packers put WR Devin Funchess on IR, sign two

Green Bay Packers signed DL Abdallah Anderson and CB Etienne Denmark, placed WR Devin Funchess on the casualty reserve, and released WR Chris blair. Managing Director Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions on Wednesday.

Anderson (6-3, 303) is a second-year Bucknell player who initially signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in May 2018. After spending his rookie season on the practice squad of the Bears, he went from training to the next. team and active roster in 2019, appearing in six games. Anderson started the 2020 season with the Bears ‘training squad before joining the Minnesota Vikings’ training squad in late September and the active Vikings squad in November, where he then entered a competition. In 2021, Anderson signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but was released on August 17. He will wear number 72 for the Packers.

Denmark, a 6-2, 220-pound freshman from Valdosta State, was originally selected by the Chicago Bears in the seventh round (No. 238 overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent his rookie season and the start of the 2020 season on the Bears ‘practice squad, then spent some time on the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad. This offseason, Denmark signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but was released on Aug. 17. In college, he was twice selected to the All-Gulf South Conference first team. Denmark will wear No.34 for the Packers.
