Paramount + ‘Frasier’ Sequel Series Watched – Deadline

FrasierThe long-standing return to television is getting closer to reality.

Paramount + hopes for 10-episode order for follow-up to Emmy-winning NBC series produced by Frasier CBS TV Studios studio, sources said.

Frasier Star and executive producer Kelsey Grammer, who has led efforts to relaunch the iconic series for the past two and a half years, is in talks with CBS Studios to reprise her role and produce the sequel, I learned. David Hyde Pierce, who played Frasier Crane’s (Grammer) brother Niles in the original series, was also approached to come back, I hear.

Grammer and Pierce to headline new series, ABC’s Kelsey Grammer / Alec Baldwin and HBO’s comedy Julia, respectively, then I hear the new Frasier tranche would not begin until 2022, if all agreements with actors and producers are successfully concluded.

Grammer met a number of writers for the Frasier to follow. The series, currently under review at Paramount +, originates from Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris, sources said.

Frasier, premiered by the late David Angell, Peter Casey and David Lee, is one of the most famous comedy series of the 1990s and 2000s. The show, produced by Grammnet Prods. and CBS TV Studios’ predecessor, Paramount Network Television, aired on NBC for 11 seasons, from 1993 to 2004, and played Grammer, David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, Peri Gilpin and the late John Mahoney. Frasier set a record for most Emmy Awards won by a scripted series at the time, 37, including five consecutive Emmys for Outstanding Comedy Series.
