It wasn’t until 2014 Paranormal activity: the marked ones that revenue has fallen below $ 100 million. Details on Paranormal activity 7 were kept completely under wraps until recently, when its title and R-rating came to light. As the teaser indicates, the plot of the film involves the return of its main character to his home, apparently in a religious cult. Not surprisingly, paranormal activity begins to occur. The format of found footage from the franchise is obviously preserved here, so there should be a lot of grainy, shaky shots and jump scares.

Interestingly, no plot details were disclosed about Next of kin. Normally, you would expect something to have been revealed by now, with the film being a few weeks away from release. But on the other hand, preserving the mystery might be the desired approach. Of course, the plots of Paranormal activity the movies are all pretty much the same anyway. It’s obviously not a franchise that depends on complex storytelling and its underlying mythology doesn’t seem so important to its effect. All the show needed was its found footage gadget, which worked incredibly well for many years.

Of course, another big part of the franchise’s success was the enjoyment audiences had watching the films in crowded theaters (indeed, the images of moviegoers screaming onscreen were an important part of the film’s marketing. original). Unfortunately, this experience is now going with Next of kin direction Paramount +. So fans will just have to get some friends together and watch the movie at home as a group in order to capture some of that fun comradeship of horror movies. Paranormal activity 7 releases October 29, 2021.
