Over an hour of gameplay from a Rainbow Six: Parasite tech test leaked. This is the first time we’ve seen the game work in any form.

The gameplay, spotted by VGC, was streamed live on Facebook Gaming by someone who claimed to have recently received an invite to play a Rainbow Six: Parasite tech test on PC. Obviously, they didn’t seem very attentive to Ubisoft’s nondisclosure agreement.

The same gameplay was then uploaded to YouTube, although I suspect it’s not long for this world:

Parasite is the code name for what was once called Rainbow Six Quarantine. Last month, Ubisoft said that original name would change due to the ongoing pandemic.

“While we recently announced that we will be changing the name of Rainbow Six Quarantine, ‘Parasite’ is just a placeholder used by our internal teams,” a Ubisoft spokesperson told at the time. Eurogamer.

“Recently, we did an internal test for the game and some of its details have become public. We can confirm that this is a preview of the upcoming game, and we will share more details soon, including the official name.”

Rainbow Six: Parasite is a team-based first-person shooter game. From the leaked gameplay, we see the tutorial, or the “simulator” as it is called. The player chooses an operator to play with from a handful of options, messes around with their loadout (weapons have stats and attachments and all the downsides of modern shooters), and then jump into the tutorial.

The zombie-like enemies are referred to as “Archeans,” and there are the Rainbow Six Siege-style weapons that skinny fans are familiar with. The vibe here seems to be a scary zombie shooter. The game encourages the player to kill one of these Archeans with a silent withdrawal to avoid alerting other enemies to their presence. The dubbing of the tutorial is clearly a placeholder.

The identity of the leaker is clearly visible in the footage – and at the end of the video we see that they have been hung up for 24 hours for cheating, but are still able to play in practice mode. It’s a damaging leak for Ubisoft – I imagine the publisher will be furious that Parasite or whatever it ends up being called debuted in gameplay this way.

Ubisoft initially announced the quarantine at E3 2019 with some serious videos. Last October, with a few more revelations about the game or its development progress, Ubisoft delayed quarantine and various other projects due to the impact of Covid.

The quarantine was originally announced for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Previously slated for launch in 2020, it will now arrive at some point this year, although it has a final release date. has not yet been confirmed.
