The Department of Justice (DOJ) faces a wave of backlash as parents criticize its recent decision to investigate potential acts of violence against school boards across the country.
This came after the National School Boards Association (NSBA) enlisted the help of the Biden administration, suggesting the threats and acts of violence were similar to domestic terrorism.

“The children of our country deserve a high quality education. Please don’t criminalize American citizens who stand up for their cause.”
On Tuesday, Nomani changed her Twitter display name to “Asra Q. Nomani ‘Domestic Terrorist’” in an apparent attempt to poke fun at the suspicions of parents like her. In another tweet, she said Attorney General Merrick Garland posted a “declaration of war” against parents.

Nicole Solas, a mother who publicly challenged her school board in Rhode Island, also had a display name that read in part: “Domestic Terrorist by @NSBApubliced.”

Relative and activist Aliscia Andrews tweeted “silence the opposition”.
Garland himself has not explicitly mentioned domestic terrorism, but has informed the public that he is working with the FBI to look into the matter.

Perrin was referring to the now infamous Facebook group that allegedly tried to compile information on CRT opponents in the county. Commonwealth Prosecutor Buta Biberaj and many school board members were reportedly members of the group, although it is not clear to what extent – if at all – they participated in the activities highlighted by the media.
A subsequent investigation by the sheriff’s department did not result in any criminal charges, but authorities reportedly told the alleged victims that they could lay civil or misdemeanor charges.
