They were three of the most popular celebrities of the day, and their high-profile night was recently featured in the animated documentary Framing Britney Spears.

In a recent episode of her This Is Paris podcast, famous heiress Paris Hilton discussed the now infamous paparazzi photo of herself and her friend Britney Spears with Lindsay Lohan at a girls’ night out in 2006.

Hilton, now 40, recalled the moment as ‘just strange’ and ‘very stressful’, especially since Lohan was not specifically invited to join them in his car at the time.

“Oh my god how many times I’ve seen this pic, the memes. Wow, that brings back memories to me ”, remembers Paris of the snapshot of November 27, 2006.

“ It was one night that Britney and I went out, and we were at the Beverly Hills Hotel, at our friend’s party, and we decided to go home. We were walking towards the car and all of a sudden were swarmed with tons of paparazzi. When we got to the car, that’s when Lindsay arrived. It was a little awkward because at this point we just have a drama. ”

The drama, of course, had to do with Paris and Lindsay’s “ frenemy ” type relationship, which at the time involved accusations by LiLo that the The Simple Life star had punched her at a club.

“As we were getting in the car, a paparazzi shouted at me, ‘Is it true that you hit Lindsay ?!” And at that moment, all of a sudden, I see Lindsay walking towards us, and I I said: “Why don’t you ask him?”, remembers Paris.

‘And Lindsay said something like, “No Paris would never hit me, I’ve known her since I was 15.” It was basically fair, not to admit what she had done. It was quite embarrassing to be asked that question and then it was just weird how it all happened, ” she continued.

“ Suddenly I looked and she’s in my car, ” Hilton then added. “We didn’t get along, so I was polite. Lots of flashes, it was hard to get out because I couldn’t see with all the cameras and people were literally falling on the roof of the car trying to take the picture. It was very stressful to drive in this situation.

She then commented on how the photo was ‘everywhere’ the next day and how the media started to ‘make up stories’ about the girls ‘night out, when they’ literally had no idea it was was just Britney and me ” … and not Lohan.

The moment was also resurrected in the recent Hulu / FX documentary Framing Britney Spears, which uncovers Britney’s guardianship dispute and the many factors that contributed to her high-profile mental health issues in 2007.

The photo of her with Paris and Lindsay, according to the documentary, added to rumors at the time that she was a wild child, even though she had two small children at home.

Obviously, Lindsay’s added attention “ crushing ” their night added fuel to the fire.

As for what Hilton thinks of Lohan now, she claimed in the podcast that while they had a fair amount of beef before, it’s all water under the bridge.

“ Back then we were actually close friends and then she did a few things that really hurt me and just betrayed my trust and caused a lot of drama, ” Paris said. “ So we weren’t friends anymore, and it was kind of like that intermittent friendship. ”

“But when I think about it now, we were so young, immature. It’s kind of like a high school drama, especially in the Los Angeles scene, ” she added. And then also having to live it out in public with the media constantly trying to shake things up and make things worse than they were. It’s tough with any friendship, and back then the media really liked having girls in conflict with each other.

Towards the end of the podcast, Hilton ended things on a high note, telling Lohan, “ I hope she’s doing great and sends her best wishes. It’s the truth.’
