Paris Hilton shares photos of herself which were taken immediately after she allegedly suffered abuse at a Utah boarding school.
Hilton, 39, first opened up about the alleged abuse in the 2020 documentary “This Is Paris.” The former “Simple Life” star said her parents, Kathy and Rick Hilton, sent her to a series of “emotional growth schools” when she was a rebellious teenager. After fleeing the first two schools, Hilton was sent to Utah’s Provo Canyon School, which she described as “the worst of the worst.”
In the comeback photos she shared to Instagram on Thursday, Hilton is seen posing in a hat and t-shirt with the NYPD logos on it. Her face in a picture looks visibly tired.
“These photos were taken when I was 18 and had just returned home from the horrible experiences I had at #ProvoCanyonSchool. I can see the pain in my eyes. I was so traumatized I was pretended everything was fine, trying to block out the painful memories, ”Hilton wrote in the caption.
“Looking at this now, I know as a teenager I would be so incredibly proud of the woman I am today,” she continued. “To be brave and use my voice to make a difference and prevent children from having to endure the abuse myself and so many others have gone through. #ISeeYouSurvivor #BreakingCodeSilence 🙌”
In “This is Paris,” directed by Emmy winner Alexandra Dean, Hilton described the abuse she allegedly suffered at school as verbal, emotional and physical.
“You sit in a chair staring at a wall all day, being screamed or hit,” she recalls in the film. “I felt like a lot of the people who worked there started torturing children and seeing them naked. They prescribed everyone all these pills. I didn’t know what they were giving me. “
“I would feel so tired and numb. Some people in that place were just gone, like the lights were on, no one is home. A lot of people were watching for suicide, and I was so scared that would happen to me, ”she added.
School staff allegedly forced Hilton into solitary confinement when they found out she was not taking the pills they had given her.
“I had so much trouble with that. The solitary confinement, like something like ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’. They made people strip down and go for 20 hours. to go mad, ”she recalls.“ Someone was in the other room who was in a straitjacket screaming. I was just frozen, I was starving. I was alone and I was scared. “
Several former classmates from Hilton’s Provo Canyon School appeared in the film to corroborate her story and share their own stories of abuse.
Following the documentary’s release last September, Hilton held a protest in a park near Provo Canyon School, with hundreds of others who said they were also abused at school or in schools. similar for young people in difficulty. Hilton has called for the school to be closed.
In September, a representative for Provo Canyon responded to Hilton’s allegations in a statement to TODAY: “Initially opened in 1971, the Provo Canyon School was sold by its previous owner in August 2000. So we cannot comment operations or patient experience before that. time.”
