TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – The car parks are filled with dozens of new Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Alabama.

Thousands of vehicles are appearing in car parks in western and central Alabama, the Tuscaloosa News reported.

Officials at Daimler AG, the German company that owns Mercedes-Benz, refused to specify the number of vehicles in storage.

However, company officials said they were working to solve the production problems of the new SUV GLE Class at the US-based international Mercedes-Benz plant near Vance. These difficulties have created "challenges" that society thinks it can "overcome".

This is the production associated with the simultaneous launch by Daimler of the new GLE sport utility vehicle for the three regions served – Europe, the United States and China – and the unforeseen difficulties associated with it, reported the Tuscaloosa newspaper.

"As you know, we have on the one hand a brand new SUV platform, we have existing suppliers and of course new suppliers positioning ourselves on the SUV side of our company. We are optimistic Bodo Uebber, chief financial officer of Daimler, said in a recent call to investors regarding quarterly profits.

"We have some plan for the next three quarters to come, we will gradually improve the delivery position of the GLE," said Uebber.

Mercedes launched the multi-billion dollar auto industry in Alabama when the company announced the construction of the MBUSI plant in Tuscaloosa County in 1993. It was Mercedes' first assembly plant outside of Germany and one of the largest employers in western Alabama.
