A new court record from Parler’s legal team revealed on Friday that its CEO John Matze and his family were now in hiding because of the death threats and security breaches they faced.
Speak, a social media app that has a large user base of Trump supporters, conspiracy theorists and far-right extremists, launched an antitrust lawsuit against Amazon after the tech giant suspended its web services in the aftermath of the riots last week on Capitol Hill. Amazon filed a response, claiming it had “no legal basis” and alleging that its employees had faced threats and harassment.
The Parler attorney brief obtained by Fox News acknowledges Amazon’s worrying claims, but notes that the company headed by Jeff Bezos is not the one receiving threats.

“Although AWS’s sealing motion focuses only on its own employees, Parler employees have been harassed and threatened in the same manner,” the file said. Parler CEO John Matze, Jr. reports in his statement in support of Parler’s TRO motion that many Parler employees suffer harassment and hostility, fear for their safety and that of their families, and in some cases have fled their home countries to escape persecution.
“Matze himself, as CEO of the company AWS continues to vilify, had to leave his home and go into hiding with his family after receiving death threats and invasive personal security breaches,” the case continues.
Earlier this week, Matze informed Fox News about the various threats he has received and the steps he would take to protect his family.
“There is a group called UGNazi targeting me,” Matze said, noting that the controversial hacker group has posted many of its passwords and personal information on the Internet. “They published my address, they threatened to come through my front door.”
He generally doesn’t take threats directed at him too seriously, he said. But this time he went into hiding with his family.

He’s unsure of when he’ll return home, saying he’s taking things “day to day,” but thinks stepping away from his usual routine amid the chaos surrounding his business might actually have a positive impact.
“It probably leveled me off,” Matze said. “If I was at home now, I think my stress level would have been three times higher… at least there is this saving grace.
