Social media platform Upstart Talk has been restricted access to its own proprietary code in an attempt to block continued development of the software, CEO John Matze told “Life, Liberty & Levin” in an interview on Sunday evening .
Talking was kicked from Google Play and the Apple App Store following the deadly January 6 riot on the U.S. Capitol. Soon after, Amazon Web Services disconnected Parler from its servers with just 24 hours’ notice. Parler is currently suing Amazon in federal court.

“We’re trying to get our services back up and running so that at least we can access our code repositories, at least we can access our development and testing environment,” Matze told host Mark Levin.
“You know that’s an indication to me that seems really strange to me if they believed social media itself was a problem, why did they shut down everything else as well,” Matze added. “They have prevented our ability to work and our very ability to access and work on our own code.”
Matze explained that he was given “a very small window to download everything when we were, you know, growing. And so we tried to download what we could, but now we don’t have access.” “
Amazon said it has repeatedly told Parler that the site’s content violates the two companies’ agreement. The suspension was a “last resort” to block access to violent content, Amazon Web Services said in a response to Parler’s lawsuit, “including plans of violence to disrupt the impending presidential transition.”

Parler seeks a temporary restraining order to prevent Amazon Web Services from blackball Parler. He claims that AWS violates the Sherman Antitrust Act in the case, pointing out that AWS has an agreement with its competitor Twitter. Amazon said Parler has been “reluctant and unable” to remove violent content from its site.
Matze said his company had to “be able to run our servers so that we can get information that needs our servers to work to get” but that “is preventing us from doing that at the moment.”
