Tech giants Apple and Amazon are suspending free speech social media site “ Talk ” from their services.
On Saturday, the decision came amid claims the social networking site was not taking enough action to prevent the spread of messages inciting violence.
Talking has become popular among supporters of the president since his Twitter account was permanently deleted on Friday. The app was seen as a safe haven for those kicked out of Twitter.
Apple claimed the Capitol Hill protests were coordinated on the Speak site. In a statement on Saturday, Apple said the app wouldn’t be available until it had time to review several issues.
The tech giant told Parler they would have to implement fact-checkers on the messages if they wanted to avoid the suspension. However, Parler chief executive John Matze said the app could be down for days. He accused Google, Amazon and Apple of trying to kill competition in the market.
This all happened after Parler went number one on the Apple App Store before it was suspended.
On Saturday, Matze announced that Amazon was shutting down its access to the server hosting service in an attempt to “completely suppress free speech on the Internet”. Matze said the ban was intentionally coordinated to inflict the most damage on President Trump.
Sunday (tomorrow) at midnight, Amazon will shut down all of our servers in an attempt to completely suppress free speech on the Internet. Parler may not be available on the internet for a week as we are rebuilding from scratch. We prepared for events like this by never relying on the Amazon’s proprietary infrastructure and building products out of bare metal. We will do our best to switch to a new supplier now, as many are competing for our business, but Amazon, Google, and Apple did so on purpose as a coordinated effort knowing that our options would be limited and knowing that it would inflict the most damage. because President Trump has been banned from tech companies. It was a coordinated attack by the tech giants to kill the competition in the market. We succeeded too quickly. Apple will ban Talk until we give up free speech, institute broad and invasive policies like Twitter and Facebook, and we become a watchdog platform by prosecuting the guilt of those who use Talk Before Innocence. They claim this is due to the violence on the platform. The community disagrees as we reached number 1 for their store today. The same day “Hang Mike Pence,” a disgusting violent suggestion, was all the rage nationwide on Twitter. Showing Apple’s horrid double standard and its big tech pack apply to the community. Apple, a software monopoly, offers no alternative to installing apps on your phone outside of their store. We don’t own our phones, Apple just leases them to us. Apple, Google and the rest of the anti-competitive group of big tech bullies are coordinating their moves and working together to stifle competition in the marketplace. “It’s a monopoly on free speech that these companies have,” Trump Jr. said. “Of course Republicans, as always, they twist their tails and run – they’re not fighting 230 reform.
Matze noted that Parler will move to a new supplier and that several are already competing for business. In the meantime, conservative social media users in the US have started flocking to other apps and sites like “Telegram” and “Gab” due to what they call “an aggressive police commentary policy.” on Twitter and Facebook.
Matze added that the app will be up and running again in a week’s time once it is rebuilt from the ground up.
