SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – An Uber driver in San Francisco was assaulted and coughed by a woman on horseback with two other women after denying them service for not wearing masks, in an attack filmed by the driver.
San Francisco Police also said that one of the women sprayed what is believed to be pepper spray in the vehicle and on the driver after exiting the vehicle. The incident happened at around 12:45 p.m. on San Bruno and Silver avenues.

The video was shot on Sunday by the driver, identified as 32-year-old Subhakar Khadka. In it, three women are seen in the backseat berating the driver using profanity. At one point, the woman who coughed on the driver also grabbed her cell phone from the center dash area and ripped off the mask he was wearing.

The driver said he stopped to tell women to wear face masks and the driver is heard telling women to get out of his car. The video begins with a woman telling the driver: “F – the masks!” then coughing repeatedly.
Khadka says he believes he was harassed and mocked by unruly passengers because he is a South Asian immigrant.
“I never said anything bad to them, I never cursed, I wasn’t raised that way. I don’t hit people, I’m not brought up that way, so they didn’t get out of my car, ”Khadka said.
Khadka said her nightmare started on Sunday afternoon. He picked up the three women in the Bayview on San Bruno Avenue. When he noticed that a woman was not wearing a mask, he asked her to put one on. He drove to a nearby gas station so that she could by one. But by then, he said the racial slurs and taunts had already started.
“You are animals to treat other human beings in this way,” he told KPIX 5.
And it wasn’t the worst. He says after finally getting out of the car, he says the red pepper woman sprayed him.

“She sprayed pepper inside my car, from the passenger window which was a little open, it was the only open window in my car,” he said.
Khadka says he had to get out of his car because it had become difficult to breathe.
He says he came to the United States eight years ago and works hard to support his family in Nepal. He says he was targeted because of his race.
“If I had a different skin tone, I wouldn’t have received this treatment from them,” he said. “The moment I opened my mouth to speak, they realized that I was one of them, so it’s easy for them to intimidate me.
His message to women is: “Since you were born and raised here in the United States, don’t think the other person is less human.”
The driver said Uber gave him a total of $ 120 in cleaning funds after multiple requests, which is still not enough.
Uber confirmed the incident and in an email to KPIX 5 said, “The behavior seen in the video is appalling. The pilot no longer has access to Uber. “
San Francisco Police said the driver was able to repossess the woman’s phone and the three women fled after the attack.
