Passengers prevent a woman who tried to open the exit of the plane

ROMULUS, Mich. – Officials said the other passengers have detained a woman after she allegedly attempted to open an exit on board an Indianapolis-Detroit flight.

Detroit Metropolitan Airport spokeswoman Erica Donerson said the woman may be suffering from a medical problem. Donerson says the woman was restrained until the plane landed safely at around 18:45. On Monday.

The woman was arrested by the Wayne County Police Authority, but Donerson says that a preliminary investigation suggests that the woman had no criminal intent. Donerson says the FBI is investigating.

The accident occurred shortly after takeoff on board flight Delta 5972. The flight was operated by Republic Airline.

The spokesman for the Republic, Jon Austin, said the flight had arrived earlier than expected and the airline apologized to the passengers concerned.
