“Wheel of Fortune” becomes a family business for Pat Sajak.
The daughter of longtime game show host Maggie is joining the show’s digital team as a social correspondent, according to Variety.
The 26-year-old will shoot behind-the-scenes clips and interviews with the show’s staff and contestants, and share them on the show’s website and social media.
Sajak, 74, and letter turner Vanna White, 64, have had their contracts run until the 2023-2024 TV season. The iconic pair has been part of the series since its inception in 1983.
“Wheel of Fortune” will return for its 39th season on September 13th. Sajak also enters as a consultant producer.
The news comes just a week after the announcement of the controversial “Jeopardy!” executive producer Mike Richards has been fired from the popular game show.
This is not Maggie’s first rodeo on “Wheel of Fortune”. In January 2020, as Sajak recovered from surgery, White took over as host to replace Pat while Maggie took over from White as letter turner.
According to the show’s website, Maggie visited the game show set as a child. The aspiring country music artist graduated from Princeton and completed a postgraduate program at Columbia. She is also a law student.
Maggie shared a photo of herself in the Sony Pictures studio on social media, writing, “In a week and the @wheeloffortune SEASON 39 premiere !!!”
In other news, Sajak will also no longer do the “Final Spin” of the game. A competitor will control the wheel and spin it to determine the value of each letter during the speed spin.
“If you think about it, doing the ‘Final Spin’, as the host, I had an impact on the outcome of the match and it always bothered me because I wasn’t feeling well,” said Sajak. “With this change, only the contestants determine the outcome of the game and the host does not win in any way.”
