Soon after, the whole scene came together for her. “I envisioned a beach motif throughout the season, and I called Ellen, and I said, what if we brought back, I don’t know, a dead character that you might dream of on the beach, that would be the fun case for the fans, ”continued Vernoff. “And she said, let’s go get Patrick. Even in my most exciting dream life, that thought didn’t occur to me as an option, and it was there.
