Patrick Mahomes is ready to go.
Super Bowl LIV MVP told reporters on Friday that he has taken the final step of the concussion protocol and will be able to play in the AFC Championship against the Buffalo Bills.
Mahomes was forced out of the Kansas Chiefs’ divisional round game against the Cleveland Browns early after hitting his head on the ground in a tackle. He was helped by his teammates but didn’t appear to know he was at Arrowhead Stadium to play a playoff game.

He was last seen returning to the locker room on his own but did not return. Chad Henne entered the game and threw a bad interception, giving the Browns some hope. However, Henne would redeem himself later in the game with a courageous rush and an end to the game.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters earlier today that Mahomes only needed permission from an independent neurological consultant and the Chiefs doctor.
Mahomes had been in training all week and had been through reps, but couldn’t do much else because he was in protocol.
Bills coach Sean McDermott told reporters the team are preparing as if Mahomes is going to play.
“I guess at the start of the week we weren’t quite sure, and we really weren’t going to know, I guess,” he said. “It’s probably a trend in that direction, so that’s what we expect.”
