Patrick Mahomes and Kirk Cousins will meet on the football field for the first time in 2019. They clashed this weekend as men at the hype of basketball. The final result was Mahomes 1, Cousins 0.
The cousins spoke at a motivational rally in the state of Michigan on Friday night, ahead of Saturday's semifinal against Texas Tech. Mahomes, the NFL's most valuable player in 2018, spoke to the Texas Tech team on Saturday afternoon, hours before the start.
"It was great," said Norense Odiase, Redshirt senior, via Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com. "He was excited, you could see his blood flowing, his veins widening, he was back, Travis Kelce was also present, it was a blessing that these guys come.
"He came to our movie show and he said he was proud of us," said Cronin, second-year guard Davide Moretti. "We did something that nobody [at Texas Tech] did before. He applauded for us, and he said we had it because he knew how hard we play and how hard we worked to win it. He will encourage us.
And it worked. The Red Raiders will play the championship game for the first time in their history on Monday night against Virginia. Mahomes will surely be back there, applauding in the stadium where Cousins plays his football games at home – just five months before Mahomes faces Cousins in the stadium where Mahomes plays his matches home football.
