When Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes left Sunday’s game, the team said he was being assessed for a concussion, then said he was ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Head coach Andy Reid didn’t say Mahomes suffered a concussion while giving a brief update on the quarterback’s condition following the win over Cleveland, but he confirmed it when he s ‘was interviewed with journalists on Monday.
“He’s in the protocol, and we just follow that and see how he’s doing here in the next few days, ”Reid said, via the team’s website Matt McMullen.
Reid noted that decisions regarding the availability of Mahomes’ practice will be made by medical staff. Mahomes would have to progress through the protocol to be allowed a limited practice, and then go through that without any issues in order to take on a heavier workload.
Mahomes also injured his toe on Sunday, but Reid said he didn’t think it would be a hindrance to play against the Bills. The concussion is major though, and all eyes will be on Mahomes this week.
