Now that wide receiver Josh Gordon has been reinstated, he’s found a spot on the Chiefs’ practice squad.

It’s been a few seasons since Gordon played a snap, his last appearance being in Week 15 of the 2019 season. He caught a catch in that game for 58 yards before being suspended again the following week.

Head coach Andy Reid did not say when Gordon could play in his next game. But quarterback Patrick Mahomes appeared to be eager to play with Gordon when he spoke to the media on Wednesday.

“Everywhere he’s been he’s sort of dominated,” Mahomes said, via ESPN’s Adam Teicher. “He can make plays in an individual blanket.

“He’s a big catcher. Even though it is covered, it is not covered. You can kind of throw it up there and it can play games.

While it’s surprising that the Chiefs are 1-2, it’s no shock that Mahomes continued to rely on tight end Travis Kelce and wide receiver Tyreek Hill as primary targets. If Gordon can help, that should give the offense a boost.

“I’m sure they’ll fit him in with a few offensive roles as the season progresses, as we level him up, and we’ll see where that takes us,” said Mahomes. “He will have his role. He’s a great football player, but in this attack everyone has a chance to play.
