Patrick Mahomes responds after brother was caught on camera throwing water at Ravens fan

After the Chiefs ‘savage 36-35 loss to the Ravens on Sunday night, Patrick Mahomes’ brother Jackson was involved in an incident with Ravens fans at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. After being heckled, Jackson decided to throw them a bottle of water before leaving the stadium.

In news that probably won’t surprise you, Patrick Mahomes was asked about the situation during his weekly press conference. While the quarterback didn’t necessarily try to defend Jackson, he did point out that his brother and fiancee (Brittany Matthews) were both the subject of a lot of heckling which did not result in the video that became viral.

“Yeah, I mean, that’s obviously something we don’t necessarily want to do,” Mahomes said, via the Kansas City Star. “There were things that were said to her, and Brittany, that you kind of don’t see on the clip.”

In the video, which was filmed by a Ravens fan, you can hear a Baltimore fan yelling “I’m so sorry for you” at Jackson Mahomes over and over again.

Considering the video is only 15 seconds long and only includes what happened after the game, it’s unclear what else the rowdies might have said to Jackson Mahomes that triggered it. Either way, it was enough for Matthews and Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas to support Jackson.

No matter what Ravens fans may have said, Patrick Mahomes said it was important for his brother to use the incident as a learning experience.

“I mean, he’s been good at it, not trying to respond to that stuff,” Mahomes said. “He’s taking a lot and he’s generally pretty good at it, and he’ll learn from it and just try to stay away from these people as best he can.”

The good news for Jackson is that he shouldn’t have to worry about rowdies this week and that’s because the Chiefs return home to Kansas City from the Chargers on Sunday.
