Texas Tech is the first Under Armor school to reach the men's national basketball championship, which posed a small problem to one of its most famous alums, quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Mahomes was in Minneapolis to support the Red Raiders in the Final Four, but what he could not do was support Under Armor. You see, Mahomes supports Adidas and he had to stay true to his brand.
So when Mahomes donned a Texas Tech shirt for the championship game and posed for a picture with Dick Vitale, he revealed a small change. He covered the Under Armor logo with tape and wrote "Adidas" on it with a Sharpie.
Covering the logo of a rival brand is nothing new in the sports world.
The most famous example could be Michael Jordan at the 1992 Olympic Games with the Dream Team. At the medal ceremony, Jordan, a loyal Nike athlete, draped an American flag over his shoulder to cover the Reebok wordmark during his warm-up.
