Patriotes-Titans To Take Away, Metrics: Measuring the Impact of Chase Winovich | Patriots of New England

[ad_1]

If the New England Patriots, outside linebacker Chase Winovich, are half as active as the knockouts in two pre-season games, the rookie will be an All-Pro.

Winovich was outright dominant early in his rookie career. To learn more about his performance on Saturday in the Patriots' 22-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans, check out this week's takeaway.

PASS RUSH
OLB Chase Winovich: bag, QB hit, seven squeezed
DT Byron Cowart: dismissal and quarter success
DE Deatrich Wise: QB hit, hurry up
Ufomba Kamalu: QB hit
OLB Trent Harris: hurry up
DT David Parry: hurry up
DT Mike Pennel: hurry up
DT Danny Shelton: hurry up
OLB Shilique Calhoun: hurry up
OLB Derek Rivers: hurry
DT Nick Thurman: hurry up
LB Ja'Whaun Bentley: hurry up

– Defensive end Keionta Davis made 18 assists without pressure. Linebacker Calvin Munson made five quick passes without pressure. Linebackers Christian Sam and Terez Hall each had a representative without pressure.

– Winovich was amazing and everywhere on the ground. He was buried on the depth chart under Dont'a Hightower, Kyle Van Noy, Jamie Collins, Derek Rivers and Shilique Calhoun before the game, but we can not imagine that it will stay that way for a long time. He is too handsome and too active. We started it with a third descent role in the first week. He deserved it.

– Cowart was not known as a master key in Maryland. It was a nice surprise this summer.

COVERAGE PASS
LB Calvin Munson: Three catches on four targets, 33 yards
CB Keion Crossen: two catches on four targets, 32 yards
LB Terez Hall: three shots on three targets, 24 yards
LB Ja'Whaun Bentley: two catches on two targets, 24 yards
S Terrence Brooks: one shot on two targets, 22 yards, pass clearance
CB Duke Dawson: one shot on three targets, 21 yards
CB JC Jackson: a shot on a target, 20 yards
LB Brandon King: two shots on two targers, 17 yards
LB Christian Sam: A shot on a target, 15 yards, TD
S Obi Melifonwu: one catches on two targets, 11 yards, TD
S Malik Gant: zero capture on a target
OLB Trent Harris: Zero capture on a target
CB Joejuan Williams: zero capture on four targets, good pass

– Williams is incredibly late this summer. His four targets clashed against Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor. The cornerback of the Patriots is loaded.

– Brooks was a good find as a security blanket. He hit hard in the middle of the field.

– Melifonwu looked a little lost sometimes. Dawson dropped another big piece.

RUN DEFENSE
OLB Chase Winovich: three stops
DE Deatrich Wise: two stops
Ufomba Kamalu: two stops
LB Calvin Munson: two stops
LB Christian Sam: two stops
DT Byron Cowart: stop
LB Ja'Whaun Bentley: stop, three tackles missed
CB Joejuan Williams: stop
CB Ken Webster: stop, missed tackle
S Obi Melifonwu: stop

– Add the two Bentley authorized holds, and it's not the best match for sophomores.

– Look at this. Winovich also approached the line of scrimmage. He is the best player of PFF during the two weeks of the pre-season.

– Kamalu had a nice, well balanced game. He has a long chance for a spot in the lineup.

ACCURACY
Jarrett Stidham scored 14 of 19 points for a total of 193 yards with a touchdown. He had an abandoned interception that could have been returned for a choice of six. Otherwise, out of Stidham's five defaults, three were thrown out and one was dropped. So, Stidham was incorrect on a single breach. We thought it was another awesome match for the rookie. He was 1-on-1 on the deep passes. He got rid of the ball in just 2.88 seconds. It was down 3.23 seconds in the first week of the pre-season. He went 3 out of 6 with three spills under pressure.

Brian Hoyer scored 6 out of 8 with an interception. He was 0-on-1 on the deep passes. The interception was initiated towards the wide receiver Braxton Berrios.

RECEPTION
WR Gunner Olszewski: a drop

– Braxton Berrios only got 13 shots while Jakobi Meyers led the way with 53 games. Berrios could probably have made a better run on Hoyer's interception, even if it was not a big throw.

– Meyers was by far the best receiver of the Patriots. He had six shots on six targets. No other wide catcher had more than one catch. Three of these catches came out of the slot.

– Damoun Patterson caught one of the deep targets for a 23-yard touchdown. Dontrelle Inman was thoroughly targeted, but she failed to pass the pass.

PASS BLOCKING
James Ferentz: bag, two in a hurry
Dan Skipper: three in a hurry
Cole Croston: two in a hurry
Tyrie St. Louis: two in a hurry
Cedrick Lang: two in a hurry
Hjalte Froholdt: hurry up
Ted Karras: hurry up

– Offensive linemen Isaiah Wynn, Tyler Gauthier and Martez Ivey, tight ends Ryan Izzo, Benjamin Watson, Lance Kendricks and Eric Saubert and half-founders Damien Harris, Nick Brossette and Brandon Bolden all had assists without give in to pressure.

– Froholdt played well, but it was reported twice.

– Wynn could not have made a better first season from the point of view blocking the passes. The Patriots, however, struggled to race en bloc when he was in the game.

Fast attack
Damien Harris: 3.14 meters after touch contact
Brandon Bolden: 1.5 meters after touch contact
Nick Brossette: 1 yard after contact per attempt

– Harris made his pre-season debut in the NFL, despite a series stuck all night. He forced three missed tackles and ran after contact.

– Bolden forced a missed tackle, while Brossette did not force a missed tackle. Assuming there is no injury, Brossette's best shot of staying with the Patriots would be in the practice team.
