– Quarterback Cam Newton won this year’s Ron Hobson Media Good Guy Award, which is awarded to the most helpful, available and accommodating player to reporters. Newton has had a tough season but has always been friendly and worthy, win or lose.
– Patriots safety Adrian Phillips is feeling good despite the most consistent shots of his NFL career.
“I definitely have aches and bruises, but there are some ways I can maneuver to make sure I don’t put on too much of the force,” Phillips said. “It’s crazy that I’ve got the most shots, most of the production this year and my body feels really good. I have to finish strong, I hope I finish strong with this last game, but overall I feel pretty good.
– Left guard Joe Thuney on the possibility of Sunday’s game against the Jets being his last in a Patriots uniform:
“Mostly, I’m just focused on Sunday and the Jets and everything. But yeah, just try to soak everything up. We never know.
Thuney will be an unrestricted free agent after the season.
– Cam Newton will be celebrating the New Year with something called a manifestation party.
“So you kind of call your close friends, your loved ones, and it’s like Skype and you have to set your intentions on what you expect,” Newton said. “Wise yourself. Wise your surroundings. Crystals if necessary. And just have that kind of euphoric conversation with yourself and your loved ones, and the people you know best. It kind of puts people in that position of being your accountability partner as the New Year approaches. So it can be a New Years resolution, it can be your expectations, it kind of takes you from that to a vision board. Yeah, so that’s my plans for tonight and I can’t wait to be.
