Peacock’s dramatic Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot expresses will

From West Philadelphia born and raised, comes the new Prince of Fresh Bel-Air, Jabari Banks. The Philly native and television newcomer will take on the role of Will in the new drama series, Bel-Air, who reinvents the 1990s sitcom that starred Will smith. Original Will from the show surprised Banks with new that he got the role in a videosharassed today.

Located in modern America, Bel-Air is a serialized hour-long dramatic analogue of the ’90s sitcom The prince of Bel-Air which delves into the original premise: Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the closed mansions of Bel-Air. With a reinvented vision, Bel-Air dive deeper into inherent conflicts, emotions, and prejudices that are impossible to fully explore in a 30-minute sitcom format, while continuing to make the original show look and nod. There is no signature Carlton dance, and Uncle Phil takes on an even more bossy role, because “life isn’t like a sitcom.” If there’s anything the networks seem determined to do, it’s spectacular reinvents of 90s teenager comedy series, and Peacock wants to participate.

Time-the long drama is based on Morgan Cooper’s popular fan film, Bel-Air. Cooper posted 4-One-minute trailer on Youtube in March 2019, and it has since racked up nearly 7 million views. The video caught the attention of Smith himself, who will produce the series with Terence Carter, James Lassiter, Miguel Melendez, Malcolm Spellman, Quincy Jones, Benny Medina and Andy & Susan Borowitz. Bel-Air received an order of two seasons by Peacock in September 2020. TJ Brady and Rasheed Newson (Le Chi, Le 100) serve as executive producers and co-showrunners. Cooper directs and serves as a co-writer and executive producer. Banks is playing his first role on television for Bel-Air, landing the role after graduating from the Philadelphia University of the Arts last year.
