You've probably heard the anti-vaxxer slogan "Vaccines Cause Autism".

Staff at a pediatric office in New York thought it was time for immunization promoters to get up with their own message.

Disturbed by measles outbreaks in places like Oregon, Washington and their own Monroe County, Legacy Pediatrics workers in Rochester, New York posed for a photo wearing a t-shirt with a pro-vaccine message and shared it on Facebook.

The shirts say, "Vaccines cause adults."

They made headlines because the office staff was covered and covered by television channels, which Dr. Janet Casey, of practice, said was not easy to do.

"We have to be as strong and as energetic as anti-vaxxers, but unfortunately, it's not very sexy to hit the headlines that vaccines are safe and effective," Casey said. "I'm really proud of ourselves."

Casey said that one staff member had seen "Vaccination causes adults" me and a friend who owned a printing company offered to make the shirts for free. Many who have seen the publication on Facebook want to know where to buy a t-shirt. The post also attracted parents who said that vaccinations were a scam of a pharmaceutical company and that they were responsible for the illness and diagnosis of their children.

Casey was always optimistic that more and more people understand that vaccinations save lives.

"I'm happy with the number of immunization advocates who have spoken since we had these measles outbreaks," she said. "I thought that for a long time it would take a diphtheria (a rare bacterial disease) or polio to come back and a few hundred people die for people to say, wait a minute – that's unacceptable. We do not have to get to this point. "

Some parents choose not to vaccinate because of the discredited belief that vaccines are linked to autism. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention predict that there is no link and that there are no ingredients in vaccines that could cause autism.

The pediatric office sold 30 of its 100 free shirts from Rochester's Crazy Dog t-shirts. The shirt company sells clothes with the slogan online. A men's shirt costs $ 11.99 and a woman for $ 12.99. Youth shirts and baby onsies are $ 16.99.

The money raised from shirt sales from the pediatric office and the printer will be donated to a local pediatric hospital and to the Unicef Immunization Fund, Casey said. The shirts went on sale Tuesday.
