NEW ORLEANS – The Pelicans have hired Nets deputy chief executive Trajan Langdon to assume the role of executive director of the new executive vice president of basketball, David Griffin, according to reports.
The news was reported for the first time by the athlete.
Langdon, 43, is a former Duke and NBA player who has also played professionally in Europe. He has been the deputy general manager of the Nets since 2016 and helped turn Brooklyn into a qualifying team for the Eastern Conference playoffs as sixth top of the list this season after finishing last in the East two seasons ago.
Langdon interviewed New Orleans for Griffin's first basketball job in mid-April.
During Pelicans' official presentation of Griffin, he stated that his owner, Gayle Benson, was committed to strengthening the club's management structure. He began doing so by bringing in Langdon and, prior to that, hiring Aaron Nelson, former leader of the Suns, away from Phoenix to oversee injury prevention, rehabilitation, performance and recovery programs.
