Peloton said it was starting to install a repair on its Tread machines which were recalled earlier this year after reports of injuries.
Loose screws caused the screen to fall off some of the treadmills available in the UK and Canada. Around 1,000 had been sold in the United States, but the company was preparing for a larger launch on its own land which has since been postponed.
As of this month, Peloton said in an updated statement on its website that users can now schedule appointments to have the fix that will ensure the touchscreen console stays connected to the device at any time.
Peloton said the repair was validated by an independent third party and approved by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.
In May, Peloton voluntarily recalled its $ 2,495 Tread machines and more expensive Tread + machines, which cost $ 4,295. The CPSC had warned that people should stop using the Tread + if young children or pets were nearby, after a child was pulled under the belt of the machine and killed.
Peloton has since released a software update for its Tread + machine that adds a locking feature and requires entering a code to start the belt.
The company has not specified when the machines will be available for sale in the United States.
Peloton shares lost less than 1% in afternoon trading. The stock is down about 27% since the start of the year.
