Defensive tackle Antonio shelton is the first Penn State senior to confirm that he will capitalize on an additional year of NCAA eligibility. However, the 23-year-old announced that the bonus season will take place on another campus.
“I’m going to go into the transfer portal to look for a new home for my final year of college football,” Shelton said Wednesday afternoon. “It was not an easy decision to make, but I think it is the movement necessary for me to improve.”
He is the second defensive tackle for the Nittany Lions to seek a transfer. Earlier Wednesday, 247Sports confirmed Redshirt’s portal entry in second year Judge Culpepper, a main save for Shelton beginners and junior PJ Mustipher.
Shelton has started 21 games since 2019, totaling 31 tackles – 8.5 for loss – and four bags along the way. In nine games this season, he has 4.5 career tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks, including 2.5 in the last two games.
Ahead of the Dec. 12 game in Michigan State, Shelton declined to discuss his football intentions for 2021. Two weeks later, he is on the move as a graduate transfer and will be eligible to play for the immediately. school of their choice.

I believe I did well by Penn State, and Penn State did well by me. “
At the end of the 2016 recruiting cycle, Shelton reversed her commitment from Illinois to Penn State. He was considered a three-star prospect and the No. 82 defensive tackle in the 247Sports Composite Rankings category out of Westerville North High School, Ohio.
