A man faces multiple charges after Philadelphia police say his 9-year-old daughter was fatally shot with her gun by a 5-year-old cousin.

Shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a report of a shooting at a house on the 2300 block of Bouvier Street in north Philadelphia, according to a press release from the Police Department.

“Upon their arrival, the police located a 9-year-old black woman lying in a room at the back, shot on the right side of the head,” police said in the statement. “Doctors arrived at the scene and transported the victim to Temple University Hospital where the child was listed in critical condition.

The girl was pronounced dead at 1:50 p.m. Her name was not disclosed.

Authorities have charged Blake Davis, the father of the 39-year-old girl, with manslaughter, endangering a child’s well-being, bribing minors and reckless endangerment. He also faces two firearms charges, authorities said.

Davis was not at home at the time of the shooting, police told NBC News Philadelphia. The news station reported that a child encountered officers at the gate and told them the girl had been shot.

The billing documents do not mention a lawyer for Davis. Reached by NBC News on Friday, Lawrence Bozzelli, Davis’ attorney in an earlier case, declined to comment and said he had not been nominated to represent Davis.

The case is still under investigation, according to police.
