Penny Hardaway says Memphis does not bluff, wants smoke

Memphis Tigers coach Penny Hardaway is already storming the college world of basketball on the recruiting trail, but his work is not over yet.

As CBBToday's Joseph Nardone warned Forbes, the former NBA talent will have to reap the success of recruiting with real successes to ensure long-term success.

Nevertheless, the hype surrounding Memphis in the run-up to the 2019-2020 basketball academic season is very real, and none of this is lost for the Tigers head coach. In addition, as expectations begin to rise, Hardaway is ready.

"That's what we want," Penny Hardaway said in her sales call. "You know, it's Memphis. We do not bluff. We want all the smoke. We want everything. We want everything to be about Memphis. … If we want to win and hang our first banner in this building – or more specifically in downtown FedExForum – we will have to recruit talent and, with this talent, there are expectations and that's what we want. It puts us in the conversation. "

Hardaway went on to say all the good things, making a connection between being part of the program and the region, which is a vital aspect for anyone who wants to succeed in a school with a community approach like the Memphis Tigers.
