COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) – The Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to an accident around 3:15 p.m. Sunday morning on Academy Boulevard.

CSFD said when they arrived at the scene of Rebecca Lane and Academy Blvd., they found people trapped inside the car.

Firefighters and rescue personnel managed to extract people inside and the victims were taken to area hospitals to be treated for their injuries.

UPDATE (3/14/21 10:28 AM) – Colorado Springs Police say one of the people in the red Nissan was thrown out in the crash. The driver and another occupant were trapped inside. All three were then taken to area hospitals to treat their injuries.

The other vehicle involved was a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 18-year-old Jose M. Sanchez-Agundes, who was arrested for vehicle assault and DUI. The driver of the Nissan sustained serious bodily injuries.

CSPD is asking anyone who witnessed the accident to contact the police department at (719) 444-7000.
