The Dolphins need a new offensive coordinator and the roster for the job is shaping up.

Several reports say six coaches are in the mix to fill the gap created by Chan Gailey’s resignation earlier this month. The group includes a pair of internal candidates and four other teams.

Chargers quarterback coach Pep Hamilton is in the other group and has just completed a year where he won praise for his work with Justin Herbert. Herbert was picked up after the Dolphins picked Tua Tagovailoa last April and any hire will be responsible for pushing Tagovailoa’s development to the next level.

The Dolphins are also reportedly interested in Clemson’s offensive coordinator Tony Elliott. Elliott has been with Clemson for the past decade and there is a long list of his former players on the league rosters.

49ers game coordinator Mike McDaniel and Steelers quarterback coach Matt Canada rounded out the outside names. Running backs coach Eric Studesville and quarterbacks coach George Godsey are candidates for promotion to Brian Flores’ staff.
