Performance Overview of Tom Clancy's Division 2

[ad_1]

Tom Clancy's Division 2 was launched this weekend and we've tested it in the last few days with a collection of graphics cards currently available. Interesting for AMD fans, this game joins the ranks of those who are well optimized for Radeon graphics. With a new driver (Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.3.2) released this weekend, it was the right time to launch performance tests and see how certain AMD and NVIDIA hardware stacked up.

Division 2 supports DirectX 11 and 12 and uses Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine to provide impressive images, especially in the highest detail settings. We found that the "ultra" setting was quite achievable with very playable frame rates from most midrange hardware even above resolution even in 2560×1440, while keeping in mind that this game uses a lot of video memory. We reached a performance ceiling of 4 GB with the "ultra" preset even in 1080p. We therefore chose graphics cards of 6 GB or more for our latest tests. And while most of our tests were done at 1440p, we tested a selection of 1080p and 4K cards, just to give insight into how the GPUs tested were scaled to different workloads.

2560×1440 Ultra Results

In an effort to simplify the benchmarking process (or to irritate as many people as possible), I chose to only analyze NVIDIA's Turing graphics cards now that most Pascal cards have been officially replaced (and much of the new remaining inventory of GTX 10 card series desperately out of price compared to their more recent counterparts). For comparison, the GTX 1660 is about a 6G GTX 1060, the GTX 1660 Ti is identical to a GTX 1070 and a RTX 2060 offering GTX 1070 Ti level performance (with capable factory cards). to reach the GTX 1080 performance levels).

And now, for these results 1440p:

Starting at the top of the table, between the two cards at $ 699, the RTX 2080 holds a 3.9 FPS advantage over the Radeon VII in this resolution, the RX Vega 64 coming on top of the RTX 2070. The RX cards Vega 64 are available (depending on the day, it seems) at a price below the base price of $ 499 of the cheapest RTX 2070 cards. In fact, the RX Vega 64 was an excellent performer in all areas with this game you'll see. But the RX Vega 56 was actually more impressive for me, as it was found for less than $ 300 late and exceeds the RTF 2060 at $ 349. We see solid results from all the cards in the lower third of the chart, although the latest NVIDIA GTX 1660 Series offers here a very slight advantage over the RX 580 and 590, although these RX 500 series cards have the current price advantage.

Taking only the cards at $ 400 and under in 1920×1080, we see similar results:

The Vega RX 56 holds a 4.2 FPS lead over the RTX 2060, while the 1660 GTX cards still stand out from the RX 500 series – even though it's almost a tie between the GTX 1660 and the RX 580 in the last two places and with the RTX 580 Selling at less than $ 200, the price / performance advantage over the $ 219 NVIDIA card is remarkable here.

What about 4K? It makes no sense to run mid-range cards at 3840×2160 even when we lower the detail setting to "high," but the top four 1440 / ultra cards are up to the task. The RTX 2080 Ti, the current titanium-only graphics processor, comes add to these cards. It's such an expensive option (our ASUS STRIX Gaming card is selling at an incredible price of 1,299 euros). lower resolutions.

Whatever the price, the RTX 2080 Ti is quite remarkable for a single graphics processor option, with this ASUS STRIX card far beyond this small group. Things are a lot more interesting when we switch to cards that cost a little over half, with the relatively affordable $ 699 Radeon VII and RTX 2080 cards at 65 ° FPS in second place (and if you look at time frame, the Radeon VII is ahead with a more consistent result here). The very good performance of AMD in The Division 2 s completes with the advantage of the RX Vega 64 on the RTX 2070 – and although it can be argued that our ASUS STRIX version of the RX Vega 64 has an original OC and that the EVGA Black RTX 2070 card does not have the cards would be very close in both cases.

Conclusion

With this certainly small sample, we obviously have not covered all budgets, and it will be interesting to see how cheaper cards are selling with games like The Division 2. This new game is quite hungry excellent case for AMD Radeon 8GB cards in the price range below $ 200. During the year, the more affordable card successors of AMD and NVIDIA will likely be replaced, and The Division 2 will be a solid title to revisit as time goes by. He joins Far Cry 5 as a well-optimized Ubisoft brand name, perfectly optimized for Radeon hardware and helps level the playing field with a number of NVIDIA-optimized titles currently available.
