Person of interest wanted after wave of fatal crimes in several parishes

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (WAFB) – A man has been identified as a person of interest in a crime spree that blanketed several Louisiana parishes on Saturday morning, resulting in the death of at least one person. Several others were injured.

Several law enforcement agencies are looking for Matthew Reese Mire, 31, in connection with several shootings.

The first shooting took place around midnight on Saturday in Livingston Parish, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.

On October 9, LPSO MPs were dispatched to a mobile home park located on the 17,000 stretch of Highway 444 in Livingston.

Sheriff Jason Ard said: “MPs located two victims – a man and a woman – with gunshot wounds. The man was shot in the arm. The woman was injured in the arm and leg. They were both transported for treatment. They should both recover. The couple tell detectives that they heard a noise outside their house. They then saw someone barge in through their front door and fire shots.

Sheriff Ard says that based on the LPSO investigation, Matthew Mire has been named a person of interest in the case. It is believed that Mire also stole a vehicle from Livingston to flee to a nearby parish.

The vehicle is described as a blue 2013 Chevrolet Silverado.

Sheriff Ard said, “As our investigation continues, we are working with our local law enforcement partners to find out more. We don’t think this was a random shot. It is believed that Mire knew the victims.

Sheriff Ard went on to say that it appears Mire is also responsible for a crime in Ascension Parish.

According to Sheriff Bobby Webre of the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, around 3:00 a.m., MPs responded to a shooting at a house on Dutton Road in Prairieville. Sheriff Webre says when deputies entered the house they found a man and woman with multiple gunshot wounds.

They were both taken to Baton Rouge hospital with life-threatening injuries. Pamela Adair, 37, died of her injuries in hospital. The victim man remains in critical condition.

At a press conference on Saturday morning, Sheriff Webre said authorities had reason to believe Pamela Adair was Mire’s half-sister. Sheriff Webre also revealed that the man who was shot on Ascension was allegedly close to Adair.

Authorities report, through further investigation, that MPs have learned that the gunman involved in the incident is also linked to an early morning shooting in the parish of Livingston. The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office are both working closely to help find the person of interest in these shootings.

“We are doing everything in our power to bring this matter to an end and bring justice to the families concerned,” said Sheriff Bobby Webre.

After these two incidents, Mire is believed to have crossed paths with Louisiana State Police.

According to a Louisiana State Police spokesperson, shortly after 5 a.m., a Louisiana State Police soldier attempted to perform a traffic stop on a blue Chevrolet Silverado on LA Hwy 42 east of LA Hwy. 73 (Jefferson Highway) in East Baton Rouge Parish. The driver refused to stop and shot the soldier. The soldier fired back and the chase continued on LA Hwy 73 to Hoo Shoo Too Road, where shots were fired. The suspect fled the scene on Hoo Shoo Too Road at the Tiger Bend Bridge.

Currently, Louisiana State Police Soldiers and local law enforcement officials are searching for a suspect in the Hoo Shoo Too Road area of ​​Tiger Bend Road following an LSP traffic check and a lawsuit. The male suspect is said to have exchanged gunfire with the soldier and is considered armed and dangerous. Citizens should avoid the area and immediately report any suspicious activity to 911.
