AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) – Houston police are studying surveillance video and following up on tips on the murder of a cardiologist who has already treated former US president George HW Bush was fatally injured while riding his bicycle in the city's medical center, authorities said Saturday.
Mark Hausknecht, 65, was killed Friday morning by a man in his thirties who shot him at least two bullets from a passing bicycle while the doctor was going to the center, where are several hospitals. and medical practices, police said.

"Mark was a fantastic cardiologist and a good man, I will always be grateful for his exceptional and compassionate care, and his family is in our prayers," Bush said in a statement on Friday.
Hausknecht worked in Houston for about three decades and often cycled to work, local media reported. He has already treated the former president for an irregular heartbeat.
The doctor's widow, Georgia Hsieh, an emergency doctor, described her senseless murder, according to a statement released Saturday by the Houston Chronicle.
"Now my family and I have involuntarily joined the ranks of thousands of other bereaved American families who have lost innocent loved ones," Hsieh's statement said.
