A woman enjoying a day at the beach in Maryland was impaled in the chest by a beach umbrella flying on Sunday.
The umbrella had to be cut in half so that it could be transported to a nearby hospital, according to WMAR, a subsidiary of Baltimore ABC.
The woman was sitting on a beach chair in Ocean City, Maryland, when an umbrella from another group was launched into the air by a gust of wind, and the wooden tip impaled the 46-year-old woman under her left collarbone. Ocean City spokeswoman Jessica Waters and Beach Patrol.
Maryland State Police posted a video showing the woman being flown to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland.

It was a wet 87 degrees in nearby Salisbury on Sunday, with a maximum gust of 30 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
