WASHINGTON – A Howard County firefighter died as a result of injuries suffered while fighting a seven-house fire in Clarksville, Maryland.
The firefighter responded to a fire in the Woodscape Drive block near Guildford Road. Deputy Chief Daniel Merson said at a press conference
that the firefighter had been rushed to hospital in critical condition but that he had ended up dying
"C & Is a tragic day for the family of this firefighter and for the Howard. "The firefighters did not disclose the identity of the firefighter while waiting for the family's notification, but Merson said the firefighter was a veteran of the department for 13 years
.Home was home shortly before 2 am for reports of a possible love at first sight.Merson said that smoke was coming out of the house when the crews arrived and that they triggered a box alarm and a workgroup.

Merson said the crews were Began with an "aggressive, offensive, inner attack" on the fire when the firefighter fell through the floor of the house. A Mayday call was placed and the teams were able to locate the injured firefighter "after several minutes."
The response to the fire continued to grow on Monday morning, culminating in a seventh alarm being requested shortly before 5 am

Anne Arundel, Prince George's Firefighters Montgomery and Carroll Counties in Maryland were called to help control the fire.
Three people who were inside the house were able to get out safely.
