China began mass production of stand-alone buses

Baidu, a giant of the Internet in China announced that he began mass production of autonomous buses (without driver) . The company plans to deploy them to tourist sites and airports, reported the agency AFP .

Robin Li, CEO of Baidu, was present in production vehicle number 100 in a factory located southeast of Xiamen City . The chief executive has optimistically said that the action taken by his company takes the industry from zero to one.

Baidu together produced the Long Long Bus the Apolong. Its size is one third of a normal bus, it can seat 14 passengers seated. Unlike common buses, there is no rudder, driver's seat, throttle or brake.

Baidu Apolong buses, considered the " Google Chinese", have the "fourth level" of automation. This means that they can operate in closed spaces without human intervention.

The cities where these first units will be seen will be Beijing (Beijing), Guangzhou (Canton), Shenzhen and Xiong (year).
