SEATTLE – A teenager died after a high-speed fire accident destroyed a huge highway sign during the night and closed for hours. Highway 99 south of Seattle. The road has now reopened in both directions.
Soldiers and state nurses responded to the scene, near South Cloverdale Street, around 10:40 pm. Thursday after receiving information that a large airline sign was crushed on the sidewalk and blocked the highway.
When the first responders arrived, they found the rustling flames of a 2008 BMW in flames and said that it was clear that the driver, a 17-year-old man not survived. He was the only one in the car
Route 99 was closed in both directions after the accident. The southbound lanes were reopened a few hours later, but the northbound lanes remain closed until about 8:45 am Friday, rumbling the morning commute and creating a long traffic jam.
A preliminary investigation revealed that crash. It appears that the pilot, later identified as Jonathan A. Tesorueda, 17, of Seattle, lost control and slammed into a pole supporting the air sign. The car burst into flames at impact and the air sign crashed on the highway
The force of the impact was so strong that it sent Pieces of metal and wood escape from the highway, hitting cars in a parking lot not far from the scene of the accident.
Crews worked all night to clean up the scene of the accident.
