SODUS TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A mother and her five children died after a Michigan hotel caught fire during the night.
WXMI reported that the victim in the tragedy was identified as Kiarre Samuel, 26 years old. Marquise Thompson, age 7, Gerome Randolph, age 7, Samuel Curtis, age 5, Savod Curtis, age 4, and Avery Curtis, age 2,

The hotel was filled with flames and smoke when firefighters and police arrived at the scene.
Four more residents and four first responders were taken to Lakeland Medical Center. eight of them were treated for smoke inhalation and released.
The Michigan State Police Fire Marshal and the Berrien County Sheriff's Office investigate the causes of the fire
. The American Red Cross is working to find shelter for the displaced.
