Missing woman from Oregon found alive in Big Sur

BIG SUR – A missing Oregon woman since July 6 was found alive Friday night in Big Sur, The Monterey County Sheriff's Office announced via Twitter that the authorities were locating Angela Hernandez, 23 , from Portland, while she was responding to a report of a white jeep carrying Oregon plates on a road off Route 1. She was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Hernandez told officers at the California Highway Patrol that she had been there since July 6, according to shipping diaries.

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office began searching for Hernandez but entrusted the investigation to the Monterey County Sheriff's Office Thursday. Detective Rosemerry Blankswade, a spokeswoman for the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, was relieved to hear Hernandez was found.

"I know everyone on the West Coast – probably across the nation is thankful to know that she is alive and on the road to recovery," Blankswade said.
