In Brazil, where the HughesNet satellite Internet service is already available thanks to Hughes 65W capacity, the new payload will complement the existing service and provide connectivity to more than 90% of Brazilians. In Colombia, the new Hughes 63W capacity will enhance the broadband connectivity provided by the company's JUPITER 2 satellite to more than 96% of Colombians.
Services in the Hughes 63W are expected to begin early in the fourth quarter of 2018, after Telesat and SSL have completed the test orbit and conducted a Telstar 19V orbit test. Hughes signed a 15-year deal with Telesat for Ka band capacity.
