The animator, producer and biologist American Stephen Hillenburg, known worldwide for being the creator of SpongeBob, died Monday at 57 years old because of the illness he suffered, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS for his acronym in English), a pity that Hillenburg revealed was diagnosed in March of last yearand it is the illness of theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking.
Because of his sensitive death, the chain Nickelodeon issued a statement in which he regrets the loss of the father of the characters of Bikini Bottoms:
"We are sad to share the news of the death of Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of SpongeBob SquarePants. For today, we contemplate a moment of silence to honor your life and your work"wrote the television network.
Hillenburg is a graduate of Humboldt State University in 1984 as single in Planemiento de Natural resources and interpretation, with reference to marine resources. He then became a marine biology professor at the now renowned Ocean Institute in Dana Point, California.
Combined with his artistic talent and his love for the sea and his creatures, Hilleburg was able to write and illustrate stories as educational tools with characters who will later become residents of the Bikini Fund, Bob's house sponge, his main creation.
The first episode of SpongeBob was released in May 1999 and the series as a whole began on July 17 of the same year.
Hillenburg was born in August 1961 in Fort Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma, in the USA.
