DENVER – At least one structure was damaged by one of the many tornadoes that were reported in the rural plains of East Colorado.
Julie Brooks, spokeswoman for the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, told KUSA-TV twister damaged a roof near Byers on Friday night. She said it's unclear whether another tornado that landed in a field near Deer Trail caused damage.
The NWS reported on its website that a tornado had landed 11 miles southeast of Leader in Arapahoe County. Another landed about 7 miles northeast of Ponderosa Park. A third tornado affected Elbert County, 2 miles northeast of Ponderosa Park.

Earlier, Friday afternoon, the NWS had issued a Tornado watch for most of eastern Colorado until 9 pm The watch does not include Denver, but extends from the Denver County line to eastern Kansas and north through southern Wyoming. It includes Fort Collins as well as the entire northeastern part of the state.
"Severe thunderstorms are expected to follow south to southeast across eastern Colorado this afternoon and tonight. In Denver, there is a 30 percent chance of # Rain showers and thunderstorms in the evening. The high temperature will be around 87 degrees.
