In the heyday of the Boom Legion, Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor were counted on to provide a high-level security game by helping the Seattle Seahawks make two appearances at the Super Bowl and the complete destruction of the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl XLVIII. However, in the last two years, things have changed dramatically: Kam Chancellor has suffered a neck injury against the Arizona Cardinals during the 10th week of 2017, and then Earl Thomas is broke his leg while he was playing against the Cardinals of the 4th week of 2018.
Coincidentally, while another trip to Glendale is scheduled for this weekend, Seattle is expected to keep Lano Hill safe, even though Tedric Thompson is back from a hamstring injury.
Pete Carroll said Lano Hill played well enough to keep his starting job open.
Carroll added that Seattle was lucky to have two guys who can start there. He was referring to Tedric Thompson as the second player, not to Marquise Blair.

For fans wondering why the Hawks would choose to go from Hill to Marquise Blair, a second-round pick, Pete Carroll pointed out a few weeks ago that they now prefer Hill's experience in the system.
Carroll's commentary on Blair was essentially his confirmation of Hill from Sunday: "We do not need to rush in. We are in good shape and we like to play with experience when you can and we have guys around us who are a little ahead of him. "

This is not really a surprise given that Blair missed part of the offseason after suffering a hamstring injury in May that prevented him from participating in June's camps and minicamps and also having him placed on the PUP list during the first week and a half of training camp. As such, although the team certainly seems excited about its potential contribution in the future, Carroll has been convinced since August that Blair must learn to play football to get to the field.
If this bust was on Marquise Blair, it illustrates Pete Carroll's main concern about the rookie.
"He just needs to learn what we do, understand and make sure that he is truly up to all his tasks and responsibilities," Carroll said about Blair on Friday.

So, while Bradley McDougald seems to have one of the lockout security positions, it seems like the team is not stuck on a specific player in the other place. This would certainly suggest that fans might see Blair, Adrian Colbert or Ugo Amadi alongside McDougald at some point this season.
