Seahawks safety Jamal Adams had to quit Sunday’s victory over the 49ers with a shoulder injury and did not return.

Head coach Pete Carroll said after the contest the first indications were that Adams would be in a position to play in the upcoming clash with the Rams. But in a Monday radio interview on KIRO, Carroll didn’t seem too sure about that.

“I haven’t seen him today,” Carroll said, via ESPN’s Brady Henderson. “He’s really disappointed. He wants to play and he wants out. He hasn’t been to the playoffs and he wants to be a part of it and stuff, so it kinda crushed him. He’s very emotional and everything, and he’s going to take care of it. we’ll see what happens today and the next few days, see what he’s feeling and everything. But he got hurt, and he handled it, he wanted to go home. We had to take off his helmet and all that on the sidelines because he wanted to fight with his guys. So we’ll see what happens. I can’t tell you now. I do not know.”

Adams set a defensive back record with 9.5 sacks in 2020. He also recorded three defensive passes, one forced fumble and 11 tackles for a loss.
