The online petition to remove actress Amber Heard from “Aquaman 2” has now reached more than 1.5 million signatures.

The protest comes after Heard’s ex-husband Johnny Depp was dismissed from his role in the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise following his defamation loss to The Sun newspaper.

The Change.org petition wants the same treatment applied to Heard and demands that she be removed from her big-budget franchise. Heard plays Mera in “Aquaman”.

The petition writes that “Since Heard’s divorce from Johnny Depp, she’s systematically crossed paths to ruin Depp in Hollywood.” The petition alleges that Heard lied about her accusations against Depp and that she herself is “a known and proven family aggressor”.

The petition continues: “Men are victims of domestic violence, just like women. This needs to be recognized and action needs to be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated in the entertainment industry. Do what. we have to. Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2. “

Depp had sued the British tabloid and its editor Dan Wooton for using the term “wife beater”, with the newspaper alleging that Depp physically abused Heard during their relationship. Depp denies all of the allegations, but Judge Andrew Nicol has ruled that there is sufficient evidence for The Sun to use that phrase.

On Instagram, Depp called the move “surreal” and wrote that the move had led Warner Bros. to ask him to resign from his role as Gellert Grindelwald in “Fantastic Beasts”.

Depp agreed to the request, with Mads Mikkelsen replacing him, but insisted he “would fight to tell the truth”. The actor suffered another heavy blow, however, when he was refused a call. Depp alleges that Heard was the one who mistreated her, although she also denies these allegations.

However, Heard has previously stated that she will reprise her role as Mera in the sequel to “Aquaman”. In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Heard said, “I’m very excited about the amount of fan love and the amount of fan appreciation that ‘Aquaman’ has gained and that has generated so much excitement for Aquaman and Mera that means we will come back. “

The petition, meanwhile, continues to gain support.
